Upton Park. Your best and worst games.
What game above all others has left you feeling absolute ecstatic upon leaving the ground? And what game left you in utter despair and misery.
Tough call but only pick one of each.
Mine.

Best. The EINTRACHT semi in 76.

Worst. The 1-2 defeat against Chelsea, 85/86 season.

Tricky question.

Best is still probably Everton cup quarter in 91.

Worst is possibly losing to Spurs in the FA cup quarter when Rebrov scored a brace.

Seen far far too many rubbish games and results to mention .

One of the most disappointing was the 98/99 penalty shoot out vs Arsenal. We were by far the better side. We also lost to them in the league cup earlier in the season.

Beating Spurs 2 1 in 2006 and week before the cup final was a great time to be a west ham fan.

Any of you lot go to the home leg of the league cup semi against Stoke. Gordon Banks penalty save from sir Geoff led to my forst memory of a truely broken heart. My first real experience of how cruel football can be. (I was 11).

Losing 4-3 to Wimbledon was a low point.

PLATT scored an overhead kick to make it 2-1 late doors. Was a cracking night and a superb atmosphere.

We had some absolutely brilliant cup games in that era.

As for this question it's almost impossible for me to answer.

Oxford was 2 years before, my memory is going.

I thought Platt pulled one back to make it 2-1, but as per the above you are more likely to be correct.

Mr Burns

I think he did. It was an equaliser wasn't it?

Didn't play Oxford though. The run was Sunderland, Derby, Liverpool, Villa, Luton and out.

Thanks for that Eggy, bit grainy but very good all the same, thing is, Jim Montgomery, Sunderland's GK that day was supposed to be one of the best, just behind Gordon Banks

I could be wrong but didn't Platty get on the end of one for Villa that night? Didn't we also beat Oxford 1-0 in an earlier round. I always remember thinking that the Oxford fans made a right racket that night.

I was there for that one, Hurst admitted afterwards, that his first goal had a bit hand of God to it

It was also in the middle of the new East stand being built, so we only had three sides open

Re: Upton Park. Your best and worst games.
The happiest I can remember being at a football match was more to do with the exuberance of youth than the significance of the result, but it was a 2-1 win against Villa in the quarter-finals of the Littlewoods Cup in 1989. Kelly (while falling over) and Rosenior scored and I joined in the pitch invasion at the end.

There have been better games and more important wins since then, but that sticks in my mind as pure joy to my then seventeen year old self.

I don't like to dwell on the bad ones, but I remember my then flat mate crying when we lost against Chelsea in the FA Cup (Hutch headed the ball to John Terry for the late winner) and I had to tell her to pull herself together, it's only football.

The 3-4 against Tottenham didn't depress me as much as it showed we had some talent and fight for the task ahead.

There was a 1-2 against Hull under Macari that left us looking like a club utterly lost.

Re: Upton Park. Your best and worst games.
Best still to this day is my first ever game, West Ham 8 Sunderland 0. Hurst scored 6, still a record in the top division.

Worst in terms of performance not necessarily result was probably West Ham 1 Wolves 3 in 2010. We were shamefully abject that day and it summed up all that has been the worst of being a West Ham supporter.

Worst Game. There's not enough space to list them all

Best was Cambridge 1993
Worst was probably the FA 1/4 loss to Arsenal in 1998, although to be honest there's been quite a few bad ones.

West Ham 5 Coventry 0 - the perfect game.

West Ham 0 Wrexham 1 - worst

That Manc LC game was definitely up with the best, that Israeli fella kicking Bebe into orbit, couple of goals from Johnny Specs and Carlton Cole, all in a blizzard
